  • There are plenty of hotels in Istanbul to choose from but Sirkeci Mansion is one of the really special hotels in Istanbul, confirmed by the number of awards it has won! This is a small (32 rooms) hotel that has been family run for some generations and the warmth and welcome is hard to beat.

Situated on a quiet pedestrian-only street, lined with attractive shops and restaurants, the hotel overlooks the magnificent Istanbul city walls and on the other side is of the walls is Gulhane Park in the grounds of the grand Topkapi Palace. It’s just a short walk from the hotel to Sultanahmet, the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome, Aya Sofya and the historical attractions of Istanbul. In the other direction it is just minutes to the busy port of Eminonu where you can jump on a ferry to the Asian side of Istanbul or a boat trip up the Bosphorous.

This is such a charming hotel, the exterior resembles the traditional 19th century Ottoman mansion and is festooned with flowers, the public areas are spacious and comfortable and all give a nod to the splendid Ottoman history of the area.  An open buffet breakfast is served in the Neyzade Restaurant which also offers lunch and dinner. On the very top floor is a magnificent terrace with fantastic views over Gulhane and to the Bosphorous.

Sightseeing in Istanbul can be tiring and the Sirkeci Mansion is the perfect place to “come home” to. Complementary soup and meze dishes are served in the late afternoon and perhaps the best form of relaxation is to take a dip in the small indoor heated pool and follow that with a “hamam” in the splendid marble Turkish Bath. Massage is also available for an extra payment (30/40 Euros).

The hotel offers some great activities – twice a week a complementary walking tour of the area gives a little inside knowledge and if you have enjoyed the cuisine there are twice weekly complementary cooking lessons where guests can learn some of the delicious Turkish specialities.

Who is this hotel best suited to? We think this is the perfect destination for first timers to Istanbul.

Our tip: Benefit from the view and take a room with a balcony. (Deluxe or selected Superior)
