At the end of the 19th century, George Parker Bidder III, a wealthy English marine biologist, saved the former Hotel Tramontano Beau Rivale, where he was a loyal guest, from financial ruin. The hotel was renamed Grand Hotel Parker’s and became the preferred retreat for the literary and cultural elite of British high society. After World War II, the hotel was once again rescued, this time by Francesco Paolo Avallone, a patron of the fine arts.
