Now 120 years young and owned by the Fustinoni family since 1945, the Grand Hotel Miramare celebrates the vibrant Estate Italiana. Guests can enjoy vongole at the beach, sip coffee on the terrace, and bask in the beauty of the Ligurian Sea and the Riviera sun surrounding them. Family is at the heart of the hotel, whether through the Fustinoni family or the dedicated staff, ensuring an authentic and comforting experience for every visitor.
As one of the first grand hotels on the Ligurian Riviera, Grand Hotel Miramare has witnessed the transformation of Santa Margherita Ligure—from an ancient fishing village to a destination sought by royal families, world leaders, and international celebrities. The hotel has remained a focal point for enterprise and exploration. Notably, in August 1933, Guglielmo Marconi transmitted the first radiotelegraph and radiotelephone signal in history from the hotel’s terrace. The suite that hosted Marconi continues to bear his name.
In 1945, Giovanni Fustinoni and his wife Franca took over the Grand Hotel Miramare, which has remained family-owned ever since. The hotel has played host to many illustrious guests, including Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh, who stayed during their honeymoon in 1947.
In a world of change, the hotel's long-standing family ownership, currently managed by Andrea Fustinoni, offers a vital connection to tradition that fosters comfort and belonging. The Fustinoni family lives for the Miramare, often seen enjoying their surroundings as they discuss new artistic projects to enhance the hotel's narrative.
Every day at the Miramare encapsulates relaxation, regeneration, and authenticity, offering a nearly home-like atmosphere. The hotel embraces guests with open arms, allowing them to wander freely and leave refreshed and joyful.
With a rich history spanning over a century, the Miramare has cultivated an understanding of what truly matters in life, emphasizing the importance of savouring each moment and celebrating the beauty of existence—encompassing food, wine, fashion, art, the outdoors, music, and family.
This philosophy is embodied in the lifestyle and mood of Estate Italiana, characterized by sun-soaked days spent leisurely under the sky. It evokes the sounds of waves, the sights of vibrant markets, and the aromas of delicious meals shared with loved ones.
The Grand Hotel Miramare stands as an ambassador of Estate Italiana, serving as a gateway to discovering the beauty of Italy. Santa Margherita Ligure provides a serene Mediterranean oasis, facilitating exploration of nearby gems like Portofino and the Cinque Terre. Each day, the hotel strives to leave a lasting impression on guests, cultivating memories that linger long after departure.
In terms of accommodations, the hotel features 72 individually designed bedrooms and suites that blend classic Art Nouveau elegance with modern Italian design. Every room reflects a unique philosophy, incorporating classic interiors with distinctive details, emphasizing comfort through amenities like air conditioning, generously sized mattresses, and Frette linens.
Dining options at the Miramare include Vistamare Restaurant, Pool Restaurant & Bar, Bar Le Colonne, and Barracuda Beach Restaurant. Each venue offers distinct culinary experiences, showcasing the best of Italian and Ligurian cuisine with innovative twists. Guests can enjoy exquisite meals by the sea, refreshing cocktails, and the ritual of aperitifs against a stunning backdrop.
The hotel’s seawater pool, surrounded by verdant gardens, serves as a hub of relaxation and socialization. Pristine gardens invite leisurely strolls, featuring native trees and flowering plants. Guests also enjoy exclusive access to the historic Bagni Miramare, Santa's largest private beach, complete with loungers, umbrellas, and beach towels.
Wellbeing is prioritized through the hotel's e’SPA’ce, which provides an array of beauty rituals and aesthetic options complemented by a newly constructed Fitness Centre, offering various classes and state-of-the-art equipment.
Open to both guests and non-guests, the e’SPA’ce maintains daily hours of operation, creating a space for rejuvenation and self-care amid the picturesque Italian landscape. The Grand Hotel Miramare continues to redefine the Italian art of living well, striking a balance between abundance and vitality, tranquillity and vibrancy, while forging deep connections that last a lifetime.
