Verdant lush landscapes, healing spring waters and the blissful blue of the Mediterranean (plus a delightful heated sea water pool adjacent to the man-made beach) – welcome to the Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa on the glamourous island of Ischia.
Proudly overlooking the azure waters of the Gulf of Naples from a rugged and rocky promontory, Mezzatorre is among Ischia’s most stylish destinations – stunning views, a superb spa, welcoming staff, exemplary service and a supremely private location. The name derives from the unfinished watchtower in which it is located – a testament to the historical past. 33 guest rooms and 15 suites along with beautiful public spaces are tucked into 17 acres of pine wood forest or in the tower itself. The resort makes the most of its stunning natural setting, both above and underground. The island’s thermal hot springs, with healing properties, flow into three water therapy pools, while volcanic mud is used in spa treatments. Outdoor enthusiasts are also drawn to Ischia’s hiking paths, many of which snake around the coastline with sweeping views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
This being a watchtower, almost all of the rooms have magnificent views of the sea. Ceilings are vaulted, and are breezy verandas crenelated. Walls run to almost 2.5m thick in places – the solidity of the property combined with quietness envelops guests throughout.
La Baia is the more casual, poolside restaurant here, with wonderful bowls of homemade pastas with all the classics as well as a few twists. La Torre is the setting for the breakfast buffet – salmon, homemade bread, delectable crumbly pastries, burrata among other things – but it’s at dinner that it really shows off. The fine-dining menu features lobster, grilled local fish, slow-cooked veal, and slow-cooked rabbit (an Ischiaian specialty), all served on crisp white linen by impeccably presented and attentive staff.
*Pricing per person based on 2 sharing, 7 nights on B&B inc flights from London (inc checked bag and standard allocated seats). Transfers involve private transfer to Naples port, ferry/hydrofoil to Ischia and and hote shuttle to and from port.
