  • First built in 1822, the Hotel La Palma has been expertly transformed into a hugely elegant boutique hotel with 50 rooms and suites.  The property is centrally located just steps from the Piazzetta di Capri which remains the centre of the island’s social activities.  This location means that the property is within easy access of many of the attractions of Capri including the Gardens of Augustus, Via Tragara and Marina Piccola.  The Hotel La Palma is a place in which to indulge in La Doce Vita in it’s truest form and the superb design of the hotel that was originally conceived as an elegant Mediterranean retreat offers a reminiscent view of Capri in the glamourous 1950s combined with authentic Italian charm.  It’s also a refreshing contemporary design that refers back to the times when Emperor Tiberius ruled Rome from here.

The 32 rooms and 18 luxury suites are filled with handcrafted rattan furniture and artwork produced by artisans across Italy. There is an intimate but clean neoclassical meets art deco vibe throughout all of the rooms and suites – with touches of the 1920s in a white on white palette – with white balconies or gardenia perfumed terraces for each room. Front terraces overlook the glamourous Via Vittorio Emanuele whilst rear terraces overlook neighbouring buildings. Some of the suites and junior suites overlook the pool area where white umbrellas shade aquamarine piped cushioned sunbeds. Five of the suites on the third floor can be interconnected. The hotel is slap bang in the centre of the town where visitors come to see and be seen.

The Hotel La Palma is a celebration of Italian cuisine – with the vibrant Gennaro’s restaurant offering reimagined Italian classics with a touch of flair, the Aqua Bar offering drinks and snacks throughout the day to hotel guests only (other bars are open to the public) and the new Bianca restaurant which offers sharing plates and stunning views over the rooftops of Capri and out to sea. Down in marina Piccola, the hotel’s highly sought after beach club Da Gioia by La Palma serves lunchtime dishes of Italian favourites and fresh fish all on a delightful beach of smooth pebbles.

As well as the delightfully exclusive beach club, there is also a bijou swimming pool and terraces where guests are able to relax. The full service spa is also available for those essential body and facial treatments along with relaxing massages. The hotel is connected to the beach club via complimentary shuttle service.

If there are echoes of a famous Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis throughout – she put the property truly on the map in the mid 20th century and her spirit lives on – photographs on the wall in the onsite sandal shop Canfora, in the cropped trousers she helped launch to international fame and even on the menu at La Palma where she has been reimagined as a non-alcoholic cocktail of passion fruit and lemon soda. The cocktail, the woman and the hotel were and remain totally irresistible.

*Pricing per person based on 2 sharing, 7 nights on B&B inc flights from London (inc checked bag and standard allocated seats).  Transfers involve private transfer to Naples port, ferry/hydrofoil to Capri - once on Capriuse funicular for transfer to hotel - this is not included and would be payable locally.
