"Never settle for less than your dreams" is the motto of this iconic 5 star property perched on the cliffs directly above the sea surrounding the Italian island of Capri…
The dream: to transform a former retreat for artists and intellectuals into a luxurious sanctuary of the soul, where guests would have the opportunity to experience breathtakingly beautiful scenery, sensational service and fantastically fresh zero-kilometre cuisine.
The hotel, perched on a cliff over the sea in a breathtaking position in Capri, offers from everywhere one of the most beautiful views in the world. Once a summer house of a Russian Prince, it is now a boutique hotel with an exquisite décor much loved by King Farouk of Egypt who was booking his suite for the year.
Nestled between sky and sea, dining on the terrace of La Terrazza di Lucullo is a unique experience, not least as the cuisine of chef Eduardo Vuolo is certified ‘zero carbon’, with Mediterranean dishes made with produce from the organic gardens of the Caesar Augustus hotel.
The 49 rooms and 6 unforgettable suites are spread across two buildings with the much sought after cliff-view rooms in the main villa offering spectacular views from all angles – even the bathrooms have overlarge windows to take advantage of the views. All are comfortable and tastefully decorated with classic furnishings and individually chosen antiques and pieaces of art from the owner’s private collection. Over a century has passed since this clifftop villa served as Prince Bulhak's island retreat and yet Caesar Augustus still looks and feels just like a private home: an elegant and much-loved private home in which each and every room is unique and different from the next. Suites come with the addition of large private terraces that are perfect vantage points from which to admire the superb views.
One of the most talked-about features of the hotel is the stunning double-level infinity pool that occupies much of the lower terrace. The clever design creates an illusion of merging into the sea beyond. Where does the sea end and where does the sky begin?
Occupying the sun-kissed terraces to the left of the hotel’s famous sea-view infinity pool, Caesar Augustus’ organic kitchen garden is home to an incredible variety of vegetables, herbs and edible flowers which Chef Edoardo Vuolo uses to create Restaurant La Terrazza di Lucullo’s marvellous Mediterranean dishes.
Every guest is made to feel welcome to the land of aesthetes and encouraged to start discovering the blue legend of Capri.
