  • The Palazzo Caracciolo holds a long history.  The family after which the palace is named was an ancient Neapolitan family who were in Naples since the 9th Century.  The Palazzo was constructed in the 13th Century on the remains of a military fort.  In 1309, the Palazzo was gifted by Charles II of Anjou (King of Naples) to the Caracciolo family.  In 1548, it was renovated and reshaped taking on the current configuration and it still has the typical renaissance central cloister to this day.

More latterly, a full renovation that finished in 2009 enhanced the magnificence of the building all the while softening the interiors with a refined elegance that is virtually unique in the city today.

The pièce de resistance of the hotel today is the wide monumental staircase which is of great architectural significance. On each floor is a carpet of majolica tiles base don original drawings by Eduardo Alamarao dedicated to the muses and to beauty. These tiles capture the sense of tradition of the building and combine it with contemporary innovation and sensibility.

Each of the 145 rooms and suites is a combination of the ancient history of the building and contemporary hospitality requirements. The thick walls of the building make it inherently quiet and protected from the outside elements – cool in the heat of the summer and warm in the cooler months. The exquisite suites are in the noblest part of the building and elegant and refined offering stunning baroque coffered ceilings.

Food and drink remain an important part of the hospitality of Palazzo Caracciolo with a lovely café overlooking the cloister and the garden along with two different restaurants where guests can immerse themselves in a gastronomic journey of Neapolitan cuisine.

The ERA Wellness Lounge offers an indoor jacuzzi, Turkish bath, sauna and steam room – this must be prebooked with reception. There is also a fully equipped fitness area for those who wish to work out.

The fantastic location of Palazzo Caracciolo and guest rooms that effortlessly combine modern comforts with ancient history and classical architecture make the property an ideal choice for any stay in Naples.
