Located at the western end of the resort of Puerto del Carmen just a 5 minute uphill (steep) walk from the old fishing port. The views here are especially spectacular at sunset over towards the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura. Transformed by a local architect the hotel retains its original palm grove and uses exclusively Lanzarote materials including the distinctive volcanic stone.  The whole place particularly channels the legacy of the islands famous Cesar Manrique who was a pioneer in the campaign for sustainable development.  Paths meander through the grounds to low-rise rooms, terraces and two azure pools all surrounded by Canarian gardens filled with bougainvillea, jasmine, cacti and fruit trees.  The property is powered by solar and geothermal energy and has won multiple awards for strong sustainability initiatives.

There are 81 open plan suites with terraces and views out over the Atlantic Ocean and are furnished with Lanzarote inspired design elements giving an urban-chic atmosphere – think interior design magazine. Deluxe suites and the premium suite have the added bonus of private hot tubs on their terrace. The best views are from the Excellence Atlantic suites.

The pool area includes a pressure-jet jacuzzi style area with inbuilt water beds, a waterside café-bar and expansive terraces where yoga classes are offered regularly. The on-site spa offers the usual treatments and there is also a small gym area. The hotel restaurant and cocktail bar Kentia utilises organic ingredients from the hotels own Finca Machinda farm in the centre of the island.
