There may be a definite scarcity of true oceanfront properties in Playa del Ingles. However, the 5 star Design Hotel Bohemia Suites & Spa has transformed this area into a destination for the more discerning holidaymaker.  

It overlooks the beautiful sandy beach which is a 5 minute walk downhill. The hotel of today was redeveloped in 2009 to become Playa del Ingles first true 5* boutique hotel with the only fixtures and fittings that remain being the original wooden staircase that was imported from China in the early 1970’s when the property was first constructed.

The rooms and suites here are decorated in bold mauve, fuschia, orange and mustard colours and all lead out to furnished balconies with views over the hotel gardens or out over the sea. Hi-tech amenities and quirky touches finish the rooms off to a tee.

The Siam Spa in the basement offers a selection of massages and treatments along with a wellness area with vitality pool, sauna, samarium and a small gym area. Outside, there is a morning and an afternoon pool – aptly named after when they are warmed by the sun. The morning pool doubles as the floatarium for a very special dead-sea effect. Underwater music is also played in the pool areas – each pool being surrounded by terraces with sunbeds or bali beds.

The crowning glory to the Bohemia Suites & Spa is the award-winning Restaurant 360 and Atelier Cocktail Bar (these are both open to non-residents too). This is a unique space on the island with breathtaking panoramic views over the Atlantic and the famous Dunas de Maspalomas on one side and the rugged mountains on the other where guests can enjoy one of the best sunsets on the island.  The menu changes bi-annually – award winning chefs have developed Air and Sand a la carte and degustation menus which both draw on the Canarian archipelago for their inspiration.
