The Noble House has its origins in the XV century and it is a true example of an Alentejo noble lodge. Its foundations on “Cerca Velha”, the first city’s wall, and its history are rich and very diverse. Firstly, it was the Counts of Lousã Manor House, after that it became a school and since the 1920’s it is a hotel, being the oldest hotel of the city.
In order to become today The Noble House, it has been fully renovated with a project from Architect Fernando Coelho, who has been distinguished with several national and international awards, such as, Gold, Archithectural design / hospitality – 2016 American Architecture Prize.
Located in the heart of the historical city centre of Évora, only a 2 minutes walk from the city’s Cathedral and the Roman Temple, it is an amazing departure point to discover Évora, classified as World Heritage and the entire Alentejo region.
Unique experiences are made from details and stories that pass from generation to generation. The Noble House tells the story not only of the house but also of the city and the region’s traditions. At the front office a heavy granite Tuscany column, supports a vaulted dome and in the original kitchen from the XVII century, nowadays the bar area, a new life has been given to the sink and the original chimney covered with XVI century glazed tiles. In the east-facing façade, there is a beautiful marble countertop with balusters and two rooms with amazing ceramic panels from the XVII century Lisbon craftsmen. In the ground floor, there are five arcades stretches that gave access to the old warehouses and the carriage rooms, and that were, today, transformed in bedrooms near the roman wall.
The rooms and suites of the Noble house are comfortable, cosy and full of history: the roman wall, XVII century glazed tiles and vaulted ceilings are some of details that make each of the hotel rooms one of a kind. The décor, inspired in the Alentejo traditions, evokes a peaceful and warm environment and invites to a relaxed stay.
