  • There can be few hotels in Istanbul as delightful as the Ibrahim Pasa. It has to be our favourite Istanbul hotel.

Situated on a small street just steps from the Hippodrome, this fabulously restored and converted townhouse has a modern contemporary design which blends perfectly with the ornate and colourful Ottoman style that is so special to this area. The ground floor and front lobby area have plenty of comfortable cosy seating areas – perfect for reading up on the next day’s programme – and a breakfast room. On the very top floor of the building narrow steps lead up to a fabulous roof terrace with fantastic views to the nearby Aya Sofya, Blue Mosque and to the Sea of Marmara.

The bedrooms (24 in total) are very individual, each with its own décor style. On the front of the hotel rooms overlook the former residential palace of Ibrahim Pasa, the Grand Vizier to Sultan Sulyeman. The palace, built in 1524, has been recently restored and has opened as the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art.

This very chic, small, comfortable hotel is full of character and at the same time is within walking distance of all the main sights in historic Istanbul and plenty of cafes and restaurants

Who is this hotel best suited to? We think this is the perfect destination for those who like a more contemporary style within this historic area. Ideal for a first visit to Istanbul yet we can guarantee that on any subsequent visits you will want to return to the Ibrahim Pasa.

Our tip: Benefit from the view and take a room at the front, (all Standard Doubles are on the front side of the hotel and Standard Twins on the back). For a little more space take a Deluxe Room.
