Description
Il Fienile is a cosy stone villa and can be found at the end of a narrow and sometimes steep country lane, five minutes drive from the village of Fornole and approximately 5 km from the beautiful hilltop town of Amelia which dates back to the 12th century. The villa is surrounded by glorious countryside and the vine covered dining terrace is an idyllic spot from which to admire the extensive views across the stepped olive groves which give way to the valley below. A large open barn (fienile) with table tennis and table football, provides ample shade and overlooks the swimming pool, which is set in an area of garden above the house.
Use this as a base to explore the southern reaches of Umbria, Northern Lazio and maybe even undiscovered Abruzzo, if you fancy the drive.
Local distances: Shopping for the basics can be done in Fornole approx 2 km from the house, Montecampano 3 km or for more extensive shopping the 12th Century walled town of Amelia is just 5 km from the house. Il Fienile is well placed for touring many historic Umbrian towns: Assisi 97 km, Foligno 74 km, Spoleto 47 km, Deruta 71 km, Spello 78 km, Todi 50 km, Terni 21 km, Narni 10 km, and Orvieto 62 km. Being close to the border with Lazio also gives you access a wealth of towns such as Rieti 56 km, Viterbo 45 km, Civita Castellana 42 km and Rome 90 km. Rather than drive into the centre of Rome we recommend you drive to the station at Orte 18 km (about 15 minutes away) as it has an excellent train service to Rome central station which takes about 45 minutes.

PRIVATE SWIMMING POOL:
6 x 12 metre pool. Open mid May to end September weather permitting.
NOTES:
