Description
The location of Casa Airone, on the Lazio, Abruzzo and Umbrian borders is utterly unique, where else could you stay and be able to visit three regions of Italy as different as chalk and cheese in one day? Also, this unique villa is situated in the middle of a National Park with its many secretive lakes, soaring mountains and picturesque scenery. This little known area of Italy has been fought over for centuries.
Casa Airone, a typical farmhouse of the region, is set within a delightful garden with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside and towards the distant Reatini mountain range. A wide wisteria clad verandah, with comfortable rattan sofas and large dining table, provides a wonderful outdoor living area for life al fresco.
The delightful elderly owner has made every effort to ensure that this villa more than lives up to your expectations. The large traditional farmhouse kitchen, complete with fireplace, is warm and welcoming, the furnishings a blend of antique and modern that could easily grace the pages of Country Life. Vaulted beamed ceilings, stone archways, whitewashed walls and terracotta floors keep that note of traditional charm so highly sought after and with open fireplaces in the sitting room and principal bedroom one can just imagine the flickering firelight making winter rentals romantic beyond measure.
Local distances: There are a number of restaurants and trattorias serving good wholesome tradional fare within a 3-4km radius. A small supermarket and chemist are just 1 km from the property. The pleasant medieval walled town of Rieti, with a good choice of shopping, bars and restaurants, is 40 km away and Piediluco, a pretty lakeside town, with some watersports available in the peak season, is 30 km distant. Stay in Lazio for Castelfranco 40 km, Poggio Mirteto 84 km, Magliano Sabina 84 km, Foligno 68 km and the bigger more popular lakes of Lake Bracciano 132 km, Lake Bolsena 140 km. Go to Umbria for Spoleto 52 km, Amelia 72 km, Terni 47 km, and Narni 58 km. Or try Abruzzo with Cesaproba 33 km, Montereale 40km and L’Aquila 63 km. An added attraction, and only 49 km from the house, is the Cascata delle Marmore Waterfall, reputed to be the highest in Europe and truly breathtaking.

PRIVATE SWIMMING POOL:
12 X 8 m at its widest. The pool, which is an unusual triangular shape, is located in a lower terraced area of the garden and is open mid may to end september weather permitting. Poolhouse containing 2 showers and WC.
