  • Poggio della Fornace has long been one of our favourite houses for a relaxing family villa holiday close to Orvieto.  It is a beautifully restored farmhouse offering a high level of comfort with the rooms being spacious, bright and airy with plenty of modern furnishings.

Outdoor living is the main focus of this private house with shaded, arched verandas overlooking the well-maintained gardens and surrounding woodlands and vineyards.  The pool area with its covered barbecue and kitchenette is fenced so the house is ideal for families with young children and there are extensive lawns surrounding the house.  There is also a first floor sun terrace with spectacular 360° views of the countryside.  An old stone oven located close to the villa is all that remains of the wood burning forges of the past.

Umbria has rural simplicity and uncluttered charm that will captivate the soul and open one’s eyes to the depth of culture in cities like Assisi, Orvieto, Todi and magnificent Perugia. Take advantage of the open countryside and explore a region where lakes and mountains have drawn the curious or faithful for centuries and modern day artists cram the cobbled streets looking for that elusive perfectly lit scene.
