  • As you climb the hill above Gökçebel village there stands a splendid private villa with pool, a perfect holiday destination.

Sakina Konak is an imposing white and pale stone built private villa with pool in the hills overlooking Yalikavak and its’ bays. There is a sparkling turquoise infinity swimming pool and totally unrestricted views over the valleys to the sea and to the surrounding green hills. It’s a very private villa and has generous proportions and the superb design allows natural light to flood in through the central atrium and mini sky-lights; at the same time you can always be assured of cool breezes throughout the house.

The grounds are extensive and the villa is approached from the gated and private parking area. The crisp white architecture of the villa is set off by the feature stone walls, cool beige travertine tiled floors and light wooden interior shutters and doors. This pale palette is enlivened by colourful paintings; Turkish kilims, mosaics set into the walls and Eastern style wood carvings. The villa has a central atrium on the ground floor open to the sky and all the open plan living areas radiate from this atrium; there is no shortage of space with two sitting rooms, one cosy and comfy for television viewing – it’s equipped with Sky TV, and one more formal room where the owner’s art collection is shown is to its best advantage. A inside dining area opens to the terrace where there is an outdoor dining area. The kitchen is spacious, well fitted and close to the outdoor dining space.

Upstairs there are just two bedroom suites, both with fabulous contemporary styled en suite bathrooms and both opening onto the large upper terrace with comfortable seating, space for sun beds and dining table and chairs.

The lower ground floor offers a further 2 bedrooms, again each with en suite facilities and the added advantage of a kitchen area and private sitting room opening onto a lovely shady terrace with plenty of lounging areas. This is a perfect arrangement if you are a large family or a group of friends travelling together.

However comfortable and pleasing the interior of the villa we are sure that you will spend plenty of time outside. The pool with its infinity edge and cascading overflow is surrounded by a sun terrace with plenty of sun beds. Elsewhere in the grounds you will find little corners where you can relax with a cool drink and just take in the magnificent scenery.

Savas and his wife Guler are the young housekeeping couple at Sakina Konak and they have a house in the grounds; alongside cleaning duties they are always happy to assist with shopping, laundry and food preparation. Their routine will be tailored to your requirements.

A little information about Gökçebel and Yalikavak

Upper Gökçebel village is delightful, hidden from all but the most curious, this is a charming, traditional village looking towards the sea and is where we have a great selection of our Turkish holiday villas; in the centre of the village we offer The Cream House, and Almond Tree House and on the edge of the village KBellanna. Small flower covered whitewashed houses line the crooked little streets and there is a backdrop of green hills dotted with a number of very stylish villas and houses. The villas Cheedem and Sakina Konak offer splendid reaching views over the valley to the sea.

Many of the villagers seem to own a donkey or a cow and it’s no surprise to see them out walking their animals! The single village shop sells day to day requirements and there’s a small weekly market in the village centre, additionally there are a number of large supermarkets on the road to Yalikavak. Gökçebel’s main claim to fame has to be the unique garden restaurant in the village centre – “Havva Hanim” – a gem of a place serving a traditional Turkish breakfast with ingredients provided by Havva’s chickens and cows and flourishing garden! It’s just 3 kilometres drive to the nearby town of Yalikavak where there are plenty of shops and restaurants a very popular weekly market and the very glamorous Palmarina. There are a number of beaches in the area which can be visited by car. Pasha is located in Lower Gökçebel directly at the sea.

The thriving town of Yalikavak is situated just a 5 minute drive from Gökçebel and is a favourite destination; in the months of July and August visiting celebrities emerging from super elegant yachts cause a certain sophistication to descend on the town. Ali Baba, situated on the bay but within walking distance of the town centre is one of our most stunning properties.  The town has a small harbour with a handsome 300 year old windmill to one side. Restaurants line the sea front and in the streets running back from the sea, grocery shops and fresh fruit and vegetable shops nestle alongside an art gallery housed in an old water cistern and a kilim showroom in a former olive oil press.

The striking mosque with its two minarets stands on the hillside and watches over the village. Thursday is market day and locals from nearby villages throng to town to stock up with fresh fruit and vegetables. Enjoy hand-picked citrus from local orchards and pass the time of day over a few cups of strong Turkish coffee sitting under the shady plane trees after which the area is named.

There is a beach in town but there is a plentiful selection of public beaches and beach clubs in the area. On the coast road towards Gümüşlük is the smart new yacht marina, Palmarina with elegant shops, restaurants, bars, cafes and yachts to match! A little further on there is a great selection of seaside fish restaurants. There are numerous walks in the area; one of the best with spectacular views must be from the small settlement of Geris perched at the top of a mountain and only a few kilometres from Yalikavak centre. With spectacular views and cooling breezes our favourite property in Geris is Karma.

A local hike may find you stumbling across derelict windmills, the deserted Greek village of Sandima, Lycian rock tombs and even a temple dedicated to Zeus, a perfect picnic spot. Whilst Geris is high on the hill, down at sea level the area is known as Geris Altisi – Under Geris – and this area is very famous for the fabulous choice of restaurants built directly on the sea, our sea front property Sarp is within a short walk of these restaurants. Zada Tash offers views over a hidden valley to the Palmarina and the bays of Yalikavak.
